Zoo in Rapperswil for kids and families

Have a wonderfull familiy day at „Knies Kinderzoo" in Rapperswil.
Not to compare with any conventional zoo, you and your children can discover the world of animals not only by looking at them, but also by touching!
The zoo to touch is showing attractions, like riding on elephants, ponies, camels, horses, a huge giraffe area, sea lion feeding and many more.
The children zoo awaits you from March till October from 9 am until 8 pm.
Entrance fees for children up on 4 years are CHF 5.00, adults up on 16 years are chargeable with CHF 13.00.

Combine this tour with a boat ride on the Zurich Lake!
Take the public boat at "Bürkliplatz" to Rapperswil and enjoy the wonderful view along the "golden coast" and the surrounding mountain tops. From the boat stop "Rapperswil" it is an enjoyable 15 minutes walk to the zoo.

Kind of Jazz

Every Tuesday "Kaufleuten" presents their new concert series in a fancy and urban way, introducing sounds of the Swiss jazz community. The concerts KIND OF JAZZ take place in the courtyard of "Kaufleuten" door opening at 17:30 p.m. and starting at 20:30 p.m.. The most popular shopping places in Zurich:

BAHNHOFSTRASSE
The „Bahnhofstrasse" is one of the most important and famous shopping streets of the world. Bahnhofstrasse leads from the main railway station to the lake and is mostly a pedestrian area. Enjoy fine boutiques, major brands, luxury stores and the glamorous street itself! Opening hours are up to the shops, but most of them are open from 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. On Saturdays the shops are closing earlier around 5 p.m and 6 p.m. On Sundays all the shops are closed.

LETZIPARK

Letzipark is the nearest shopping mall in walking distance and you can reach it easily from the hotel. Letzi Park awaits you with 66 shops on three floors, three cafeès, two restaurants and several take aways. Letzi Park is open from Monday to Saturday from 09.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.

SIHLCITY

Sihlcity is one of the biggest shopping malls in Swizerland and a true shopper`s paradise! Opened in 2007 the mall offers more than 70 shops, several restaurants and a cinema. Modern architecture and the huge range of products fulfill all your shopping wishes. It is easily accessible from the hotel by bus. Sihlcity is open from Monday to Saturday from 09.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m.

SHOPVILLE RAIL CITY

Zurich`s main train station awaits you with more than 100 shops located one level below zero: from fashion to books, flowers, electronics, from pharmacies and grocery stores to shoe shops and takeaways. The so called "ShopVille" is open from Monday to Friday from 09.00 a.m to 09.00 p.m. On the weekends it is open from 09.00 a.m. until 08.00 p.m. Besides the airport, ShopVille is the only possibility to go shopping also on Sundays!

A wonderfull adventure for the whole family!

You will experience animals and plants from Africa, South America or Eurasia throughout varios settings in the Masoala Rainforest, the African Mountains and soon in the new Asian Elephant Park. There are also various exhibitions where you get some background knowledge about humans and animals. The Zoo is open daily from March until October between 09.00 a.m. and 06.00 p.m. and from November until February from 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. The entrance fee is CHF 22.00 per adult, teenager CHF 16.00 and children CHF 11.00. Infants and children up to 6 years are free of charge.
I recommend:
Visit the restaurant "Altes Klösterli" after a pleasant day at the Zoo. The cozy restaurant is located on the Zoo property and awaits you in an canny atmosphere with delicious Swiss food mixed with the modern cuisine.

Zurich has a huge variety of 16 cinemas.

Most of the films are shown in original language with German and French subtitles. Most of the movie theatres show also movies in English. You sometimes get the best of both worlds, then two versions of the same movie are shown: One in original language and one dubbed. They are marked with the letters Edf in the programmes (English with German and French subtitles. A "D" indicates that the movie is spoken in German). Tickets are available for CHF 15.00 up to CHF 21.00 depending on size and equipment of the cinema. On Mondays the tickets are discounted to CHF 13.00 in all of the cinemas in Zurich!
I recommend:
The "Abaton" movie theatre with 12 screens and around 2.284 seats. Is one of the largest cinemas in Zurich. It is also the nearest cinema and in walking distance to the hotel. You will reach it within 15 minutes or 7 minutes by bus.

Boat and shipping on the Zurich Lake

Do you prefer a romantic jaunt for two on a small rowboat or the conventional round trip? Zurich lake offers a huge variety of trips and jaunts on the water!
Boats Rental:
The boat rental "Lago" at the Utoquai owns Zurichs first rental-solar-boat. Silent and with no emissions they slide without rowing and paddling though the water. With a small lawn and a swimming ladder you will have lots of fun while discovering the lake. The prices are CHF 60.00 per hour and is accessible for up to 6 persons.
At the boat rental "Lago" you can also hire rowboats, pedalos, paddleboats and motor boats!
